Why do you need exercise?

Everyone has heard the saying that exercise is good for you but have you stopped to think what it actually means. I did this the other day and came up with some thoughts that I’d like to share with you.

Controls weight

Exercise burns calories so is very important if you want to lose weight and get a fabulous toned figure. The more intense the activity the more calories will be burned.

Keeps bones strong

Exercises, especially weight bearing exercises, are important to keep the bones strong and help avoid osteoporosis. This is a weakening of the bones which can affect older people especially women.

Combats disease

Exercise has been found to lower the risk of a number of chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes and heart disease, stroke and some cancers. It’s also a fact that people who exercise tend to get sick less often.

More energy

It may seem strange but a workout can actually leave you with more energy for the rest of the day.
Helps sleep regular daily exercise, but not too close to bedtime, will help you fall asleep faster and have a deeper sleep at night.

Fun and enjoyment

Find a physical activity that you enjoy and it can be a fun time. Share the enjoyment by exercising socially and spending with friends or exercise outdoors and enjoy the scenery.

Improves Mood

When you have done some activities and feel better about your appearance you will notice a boost in confidence and self esteem as well as a reduction in the risk of stress in your life. Exercise causes the body to produce endorphins which are chemicals that can help a person to feel more peaceful and happy.

So let’s get out and do some activities! Just remember that to be beneficial you should engage in a moderate exercise level which is enough to raise your heart rate and make you breathe faster.
