GROWTEC Rabbits was formed in 1996 by a family partnership who realised the need for good quality and reliable commercial New Zealand White Rabbits. We also have experience breeding super fine Merino sheep and beef cattle.

Quality Australian Farmed Rabbit (QAFR) was formed in 1998 In Geelong Victoria as a processor and marketer of Farmed Rabbit meat products. QAFR opened a purpose built Farmed Rabbit processing plant in Geelong in 2003. QAFR,s main focus was initially the processing and marketing of Farmed Rabbit meat products. The limiting factor for QAFR has been continuity of supply of high quality Farmed Rabbits for processing. This lead to QAFR researching breeding systems and in close association with producer suppliers, several Farmed Rabbit production systems have been trailed over the last ten years. QAFR currently has a Farmed rabbit production unit of about 700 breeding does. This will enable research to continue into the most cost effective production systems available using the best Farmed Rabbit genetics available.

In 2004 GROWTEC and QAFR joined forces to expand GROWTEC and further develop its Farmed Rabbit genetics, its Farmed Rabbit production systems, and its Farmed Rabbit products.

The combined resources of GROWTEC with a focus on genetics and technology and QAFR with a focus on cost efficient commercial production and consumer market requirements will ensure that ~ Growtec  genectics  and products are continually tested and improved to provide Australian Farmed Rabbit producers with the resources necessary to run a commercially viable Farmed Rabbit production unit.

To breed New Zealand White rabbits that are fast growing and excellent superior mothers. By doing this we will become the leading suppliers of New Zealand White genetics.

GROWTEC also strives to provide equipment and information to foster industry development and success.

We have had a commercial meat rabbit enterprise for approximately eight years now and have learnt some valuable lessons over that time. Our main aim is to breed a rabbit that is more profitable than those currently available in the market place. We focus on extensive performance recording and the use of modern genetic technology which gives us some quality assurance and thereby also gives our clients extra confidence that they are receiving the best rabbits currently on offer.
